Holidays and Scientology: What gives?
You might wonder, what exactly do Scientologists celebrate? Do they believe
in God? Do they Celebrate Christmas? Having spent 30 years in Scientology,
here is a bit of how the Holidays were for me.
First off, I was raised a Catholic, so under all of the "OT" "Cause over
life" stuff, was my own personal belief in God. Now of course Scientology
says they believe in "The Supreme Being, whatever you believe that to
be".however what does that mean?
Well, having spent 30 years in Scientology, I never knew what that meant
really. I know they do not really worship God, and Hubbard said Jesus was
part of what he called "and Implant" (something inflicted on us,
which we didn't want really).
One rarely hears a Scientologist speak of God, and if they do, it's usually
for PR reasons..to help create the image of they being a "real"
religion. In Clearwater, as I've posted, we created "Sunday
Service" in 1980 totally for PR reasons, so we LOOKED like a real
church. Now in all fairness to them, they feel their auditing IS Spiritual,
so they say they go to church daily. However, the truth is they HAVE to buy
that auditing, so it's a lot different than any church you or I know of,
where one can go and get spiritual help for free.
So Christmas and Easter are both quite empty in Scientology, as far as what
each Holiday is actually about although we always celebrated them with
fullness, as I did as a child, minus the church.
As far as Thanksgiving, that's usually celebrated as in any other home here
in America. However there is one thing different: In Scientology they know
on Holidays their stats will often crash, as people don't want to go study
on a holiday. So in Scientology they will often offer delicious food, or
extra perks of one kind or another IF you will come in on a holiday.
Often for OT 7 Flag was the most Crowded at Christmas, or right after.
Sure, Scientology is building their Christmas display. They know how to make
something look right more than most. They even have a choir now that goes
around singing Christmas Carols. This is all nice, but just a little odd
when you realize they really do not believe most of what they are singing
about.
Whatever you believe.may your Holidays be filled with friendship, yummy
food, and happiness. May each of us create an abundance of peace throughout
the world. We need it!
My love to all :)
