What did I like about Scientology?
Here are my favorite things:
1. I loved many of the people. (Not so much the Executives...but the people,
although there were a few nice Exec's too).
2. I loved the concept of "An Applied Philosophy" with tools
to help you. It took me years to realize these same "Tools"
that I found so valuable and cost a small fortune, could be found in
similar forms in Self Improvement books for $20 at my local Bookstore.
3. I liked that in the old days, it was fun a lot of the time. Hubbard
had said, "Serious = Mass" so people weren't nearly as serious
as they are now.
4. I liked training, in many degrees. It was promoted that IF you were
trained, and the higher you were trained the better one could help others.
So this was fun for me, as I got into Scientology to help others.
5. I liked having a group that seemed to unconditionally love each other,
just because we were on the same team. It took me 30 years and a question
from one of their biggest "SP's" to realize these same 'friends'
were only my friends if I jumped through the hoops the right way. (His
question was: "What kind of friends could those be if they're going
to leave you because you changed your mind"?)
6. I liked hearing other people's wins, although as years passed, they
seemed to get thinner and thinner (Meaning less and less true, more and
more hype).
7. I loved the friendships, and the loyalty each seemed to have. Again,
people are very loyal, until you step out of the Scio/Truman show. Then,
nadda.
8. I loved that I thought this tech worked and honestly helped other people.
It still may. I still think some of it very well may work, esp. the lower
level stuff. As the years passed and I watched my fellow "OT's"
and myself, I had to face the fact that few of us really changed at all,
and even fewer could do ANYTHING that had been spouted as "OT".
9. I loved the concept that we could spread hope, and help the world be a
better place. It never occurred to me that Scientology might actually be
lying to me: Not ever! It still amazes me to find out facts behind the many
weird situations I was involved in, where the Executives lied to me. It's
been terrific to actually learn the facts behind most of these. I'm still
learning, but here are just a few:
-What happened to L. Ron Hubbard and his death?
-Who was DM and what happened to Pat and Annie Broker, that we were told at
the announcement of Hubbard's death were his best friends, and would be
taking over the church?
-What happened re the Book One Seminars and why was it really cancelled?
- What was the REAL time line of L. Ron Hubbard, and what DID happen to so
many of his staff?
-What was the real story behind Gerry Armstrong, and why did he really
leave?
- What did happen at the Mission Holder's Conference and why did most of the
Mission Holder Quit, in the early '80's?
-Who the Hell Created the "Finance Police" ...and what was that about?
- What is the true story behind David Mayo?
- Why did C of S have to lie when they came to Clearwater, Florida?
-Why did OSA have this Top Secret OSA Int Mafia group of 5 or 6 people to
"Fight the critics"? If it was totally "OK" and "On- Policy", Why did I have
to sign something that promised I'd never tell "DM, any Executives, any
auditor (except OK'd by OSA), any Ethics officer, and ANY Scientologist"?
- What was the *real* reason for the "Golden Age of Tech"
- Why didn't OT 7 work, or OT 8 for that matter?
- Why were so many OT's Screwed up?
Who were these Critics really that I'd been out "Handling",
and what was their trip? and many more.
10. I loved waking up fully, learning the many things I'd been told I
couldn't read about, and talking with the supposed "Evil Critics" ..only to
find out the vast majority are really not evil at all, and many are cool
people.
Thanks to all who continue to expose the many abuses of C of S, and for
helping me over the years. You know who you are :)
