Scientology realized years ago, way back when we were in Clearwater, and Richard Tinny had his campaign "Save Sparkling Clearwater, Stamp out Scientology" that they needed to LOOK like a church.

I was assisting OSA for the first time in this.

As I've posted before, at the time, ('79) There were only a handful of pubic in the area. We had moved there and Milt called me in. He told me the BS story of how LRH was coming on land in one of the southern states, but they found out the FBI were there to plant drugs on the Ship. With that report, LRH zoomed over to Clearwater.

Due to certain conditions (Which he never explained to me---later I found out LRH had a bad name in many areas) they HAD to lie to buy the Fort Harrison.

Since they bought the hotel on a lie, and Richard's main campaign was C of S are liars, they couldn't "Handle it"..and needed me to.

It was my first experience with OSA and being a true believer in Scientology, I said sure.

All I did was go and talk with people daily.

I got a small crew of people together and we'd go to meetings. Our 'job' was to distract Richard off of his bandwagon against C of S, onto the 'Real" problems of the city.

One time we were ordered to join "Save Sparkling Clearwater".

One of the other things we realized is that Scientology doesn't LOOK like other churches.

Now at the time, we were told we go to church every day. At the time I believed that, as I thought of it as a religion by now (God knows how...but I did). But to the average eye, one wouldn't know we were in church. (Because in truth, they aren't!!!)

Ok, so we began in 1979 "Sunday Service".

We had speakers come in and give sermons about various things. My favorite was Darby Simpson (who they later declared SP).

It's too long a story to tell but it was VERY cool.

Anyways that was the beginning of Sunday Service: Basically one more PR action of C of S, trying to "Fit in".

Didn't work... what a surprise!

To any Scientologists still "In" C of S.

Why? You don't want to lose all your 'friends"?

Well, I'll ask you what Andreas asked me:

What kind of friends could those be, if they're going to leave you because you change your mind?

A grand question.

Happy Sunday.
